Review: Ghost Town

Ghost Town (Morganville Vampires, Book 9)
Author: Rachel Caine
Pages: 352
Source: Library
Synopsis (amazon): While developing a new system to maintain Morganville's defenses, student Claire Danvers discovers a way to amplify vampire mental powers. Through this, she's able to re-establish the field around this vampire-infested Texas college town that protects it from outsiders.

But the new upgrades have an unexpected consequence: people inside the town begin to slowly forget who they are-even the vampires. Soon, the town's little memory problem has turned into a full-on epidemic. Now Claire needs to figure out a way to pull the plug on her experiment- before she forgets how to save Morganville...

Ghost Town is book 9 of the Morganville Vampire series, which ranks very high on my list of top vampire books. I've enjoyed the series ever since I read the first book, Glass Houses. Reading this series is like putting on my favorite shirt and skinny jeans— I love them, am comfortable with them, and wish I could always have it.

*** Beware, spoilers from the previous books ahead!***

Ghost Town is the latest installment of Claire, Shane, Michael, and Eve's life in Morganville. Once again, something is amiss. People— humans and vampires— seem to be forgetting parts of their lives and finding themselves completely confused and disoriented. It's actually scary. What if you woke up one day and didn't know what happened to the world around you? You grew up, made new relationships, lost relationships, and your whole world changed but you can't remember it. Naturally, it creates discord in the tentative peace of Morganville.

Claire immediately suspects it has something to do with the machine that changes people's memories and she realizes she need to turn off the machine. Except she encounters a few problems along the way...

One of my favourite parts of Ghost Town was reading about some of my favourite characters more, and all their emotions. Claire is so unique as a character; she's smart, and brave while being delicate and small. She stands up for herself but doesn't want to cause too much trouble. She's so real that you can instantly connect to her. In Ghost Town, awesome Claire continues.

Michael, Eve, Shane and Myrnin are also as lovable as ever. In Ghost Town, we get a better look at their personalities and feelings. This book added so much more depth to already deep characters!

The plot as always was fun. There were so many plot twists, I was addicted. I sprinted home from school to read this book and those who know me also know I hate to run.

Ghost Town is highly entertaining, has great plot, and features some of my favourite characters of all time. For that, I give it 4 stars.
