Review: Supernaturally

Author: Kiersten White
Pages: 336
Publisher: HarperTeen
Source: Library
Synopsis: Evie finally has the normal life she’s always longed for. But she’s shocked to discover that being ordinary can be...kind of boring. Just when Evie starts to long for her days at the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s given a chance to work for them again. Desperate for a break from all the normalcy, she agrees.

But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself.

So much for normal.

Supernaturally... Wow. You know how there are some books you're so excited for that you don't want to finish? I was so excited for Supernaturally that I didn't even want to start it. Yeah, that's weird. I also probably over-hyped the book in my head.

The most awesome thing about Supernaturally is that, like Paranormalcy, the writing is so full of Evie and her voice. What girl could not like Evie and her attitude? She has a pink taser! Evie is a unique character in the sense that we know her and her likes. For example, I love that she cares about Easton Heights so much. Real people like TV shows, have hopes for the future, vulnerabilities and expectations. That was one of my favourite parts, reading about Evie expecting stuff to be a certain way and then finding out the truth. She's such a great character that you can't help but support her.

Evie and Lend. *Awwww* He's like the best boyfriend ever. He deserves an award for being so sweet and supportive but never boring. I was frustrated with Evie a bit when she wasn't honest with him but I still enjoyed reading about her and Lend. And I'm so glad Jack's character wasn't used to create more drama as a love triangle.

All the paranormals from Paranormalcy were back for Supernaturally, plus a few more. I love that these books have all kinds of paranormals in them. I learned of some new mythologys. And they all fit the story. There were many moral questions raised about the paranormals and Evie herself which I liked to see. I absolutely love morality questions. Kiersten White did an exemplary job making her world gray.

Now on to the plot. I love the writing and the characters so I would have read Supernaturally no matter what. I will admit in this aspect, Supernaturally was good but it didn't impress me as much as Paranormalcy. Mainly because I had for the most part, no idea what the main big problem was going to be. I was expecting some typical storyline so I was thrown off a bit by the more internal conflict. Supernaturally was a book full of revelations that doubtlessly will be important in upcoming books. As a book in a series, it's great. As it's own book, there's something to be desired.

Don't take it the wrong way- Supernaturally is fun, romantic, and addictive, read. I really really liked it and it's a great sequel. 4 stars,

Cover Wars: Supernaturally vs. Die For Me

It's been another successful cover war! For all of you new to Tantalizing Illusions, Cover Wars is a fun little (peaceful) feature where you get to vote (on the right) for the cover you consider better looking. The winner of the previous week faces a new challenger every week. The covers may be related, and they're usually of pre-publication books. If you have a suggestion for a future battle, leave a comment!

Last week, majority voted for Supernaturally. This week, the war is...

Supernaturally (Paranormalcy, #2)vsDie for Me (Revenants, #1)

Which is your favourite? Vote now!

P.S. I know I haven't been around much but I've been having some issues with internet access. I am writing reviews and I'll try to post them but for now, I can't be super active. Don't worry, this won't last long.

Cover War! Supernaturally vs. Starcrossed

Cover wars is a fun little (peaceful) feature that I like to do here at Tantalizing Illusions. It's all about the gorgeous covers of to-be-released books. Basically, every week there will be two book covers, the previous champion and the challenger. There's a poll up at the side and all you need to do is vote for your favourite cover. Why do I do this? I love pretty things and I'm interested in seeing which cover people enjoy more.

Hades vs. Supernaturally was last week's challenge and Hades lost by one vote to Supernaturally. VERY close, right? Before I continue, I'd like to mention that I noticed Hades has a new cover on Goodreads, so what do you think of that?

Hades (Halo, #2)

I personally love it. Much darker than the other one and it's so pretty! Makes me ten times more excited to read it!

Anyway, to this week's War...
Supernaturally (Paranormalcy, #2)vs. Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1)

They're both so pretty and I'm loving the dresses flowing in the wind? What's your favourite? VOTE NOW! :)

Cover Wars! Hades vs. Supernaturally

Cover Wars is a fun little feature I have on my blog. It's all about covers for upcoming YA releases and which is your favourite. Every week I'll have a new challenger and through out the week you can visit my blog to vote for your favourite cover. The covers may have something that links them (like colour) or they might not. It's all based on my whims but if you have a suggestion I'd love to hear it!

Wow, once again Hades triumphs! Challenging Hades is the beautiful cover of Supernaturally by Kiersten White.

Hades (Halo, #2)VS.Supernaturally (Paranormalcy, #2)

I absolutely love both covers so I'm super excited to see what you think! Remember vote on the right!

Follow Friday and Book Blogger Hop

Happy Friday everyone! Friday is my favourite day of the week. And as per usual, I'm participating in some blog hops. But there is a twist- I'll participate in both of them at once this week! I know, completely mind blowing, right? Anyway, here they are:

Hosted by Parajunkee, this is a fun way to visit, follow, and discover new blogs. This week's featured blogger is NaKesha of Totally Obsessed. Also, this week's question is...

Share your current fav television show! Tell us a bit about it...

First of all, I LOVE this question! I love tv and I love to talk about it. Since this may be my one and only chance to rant about my fave tv shows, I thought I'd introduce you to all 3 of them.
#1. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES! Seriously, my love of this show is a force to be reckoned with. TVD has action, drama, suspense, friendship, violence, mystery, HOT GUYS (Team Damon), real characters, and basically everything I love. Every episode is OMG worthy and I love it. Too bad the next episode won't be till April.

#2. SUPERNATURAL. Gosh, I love this show. It has so much action, suspense, and amazing characters and plots. This show addicts and thrills me, plus it's actually really scary. Anyone interested in books about demons, hunters, etc. (the books where monsters are monsters, not people to be worshipped) should check this out.
#3. Last there is my guilty pleasure, GOSSIP GIRL. I love the characters and the clothes. There's so much drama, it's fun. It's  not a show for everyone, but it is a show I watch every Monday.

Hehe, that's it now, I promise. On to blog hop number 2...
Book Blogger Hop

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word!  This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books!  It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!

This week's question comes from Jen B. who blogs at I Read Banned Books:
"Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"

Hmmm... really hard question. Sometimes I wish I chose a name more book related. Tantalizing Illusions took forever to make up, but it's a name that could be for a design blog or something, not a blog about books. But since the name is unique, it's easy to remember. I wanted an original name so I think the name works. What do you think?

Well, that's it for today! Thanks to everyone who stopped my blog, and please leave a comment! I'll be sure to visit you too! Happy Friday everyone and hope y'all have a great weekend!

xoxo,

Waiting on Wednesday: Supernaturally

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine which feautures our pre-publication must haves. This week, I can't wait for

Supernaturally by Kiersten White. It doesn't have a synopsis yet, but it's the second series in the Paranormalcy books which means it will be amazing since I loved Paranormalcy. Plus, the cover is so gorgeous. I love it! It's being released on August 30 2011, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

What about you? What are you waiting for?
