Q: The New Year is here — and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?


Oh yes, the New Year... is tomorrow?! Where the heck did 2011 go? Anyway, my resolutions that I'm making up right now on the spot are:

First to always have a fresh blog design since I find that changing the design every few months does a lot for my blog. It makes me feel all excited and when I'm excited, I tend to post more which leads to my next resolution.

Consistent posting is something I want to work on. I have so many great reviews to post and I have great ideas for features I want to include but I have trouble getting all that on my blog. Not anymore. I resolve to have much more quality filled posts here at Tantalizing Illusions.

Marketing... ouch. I need to interact with fellow bloggers more. It's not enough to do a post and then comment on someone else's post and call it a day. Nope, I'm going to work harder at the Twitter thing, comment a bunch of times, and be a more social Goodreads member.

I'm in no way a music snob. I listen to radio music and all I ask for music is entertainment. Music isn't my life, books are so I don't know many bands. Anyway in no particular order...

If you find a book you love, do you hunt down other books by the same author?
Yes! Definitely, if there's an author who's book I love I'll look for more books by them. Though I might not read all of them (it depends on the amount of love) but I'll look. I love loving books so if an author does something I love, they might do it again.

Friday Blog Hops!

This was a fun week with a ton of reading done. Also, huge thanks to everyone who has already voted in the Hades vs. Supernaturally cover poll! So far the results are pretty equal but that could change at any moment. Now, off to the blog hops!

"Pick a character from a book you are currently reading or have just finished and tell us about him/her." 


The book I'm currently reading is Black Hole Sun by David Macinnis Gill. The character I'm choosing is Vienne. She's strong and seriously bad***. She's beautiful and lethal. Vienne is loyal to Durango her chief but isn't afraid to tell him what she thinks. She doesn't get along with others all the time but she's so completely herself that she's free in that sense. I love her character!

Do you have anyone that you can discuss books with IRL? Tell us about him/her. 
Yes I do! I actually have 3 people! Though of all of them I'm the more serious reader. One of them is a classmate from drama class. We read the same kind of books and we always talk about what we're reading or a book we'd recommend in class. 
Another is a girl I met in English class last semester. I since then gave her a list of books to read and she's been reading them. (And loving them from what I hear!) She's one of the first to here me gush about a must read.
 Lastly there is my locker & plays flute in band with me buddy. While going to class we often comment on what we're reading. We also have similar tastes in books and she usually has brand new books so I love seeing what she's reading. I know I'm lucky to have found so many bookworms in one school! And from what I hear there are more I haven't met yet.

Q: Do you judge a book by it's cover?
My answer is... Yes. Well, kinda. I decide to pick up a book by it's cover. Usually covers reveal a ton about a book and a pretty cover makes me excited for a book. That doesn't mean I only read books with pretty covers. If I find a cover iffy, I always check the summary. Usually that helps. I like pretty things. My first impression of a book is it's cover so obviously it will be a better impression if I like the cover. What do you think?
Anyway, it's been a good week. Spring is finally arriving! I'd also like to say a huge welcome to everyone visiting and leave a comment! I like to know who's taken the time to visit and to return that favour. Happy hopping! Hope y'all have a great weekend!

 I'm not much of a pranker. It takes too much work and I'm a lazy person so I don't like to plan much. I'll jump behind someone and scream 'Boo!' or something along the lines of that but I won't plan a huge prank. How about everyone else?

Q. WHAT IS THE BOOK THAT YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO ADMIT TO LOVING?? 

I don't think there's anything I won't admit I love anymore. Since I began blogging, I've realized the importance of my own opinion. My opinion is completely unique and that's a good thing. I won't change it for anyone but myself. That said, when I first read Twilight (3 years ago) I was ashamed to admit I loved it. Same with the Clique series (read 4 years ago). The truth is that now I'm not a big fan of either series. I've changed during the last few years.

1. I finish every book I read. It's annoying sometimes but I just can't stand not finishing. I'm weird like that.

2. My TBR depends on what I need to review and what's due at the library next.


3. The most books I've ever checked out from the library is 51.


4. I rarely reread books. Too many new books to try.


5. I read one book at a time. No more, except for school or extremely rare occasions.

I would say Harry Potter but that's too common. I love Hogwarts and it would be fun to live there. If not Hogwarts, than the world of Hex Hall. I haven't read Demonglass yet but I love the idea of schools for the supernatural.

Follow Friday and Blog Hop

It's Friday! Normally I would be over the top happy about that but this means it's the last weekday of my March break. *sigh* Unless for some reason I can convince my mom to let me stay home on Monday too...
Anyway, this also means today is probably the last day that  I get to post numerous times until maybe weekends and the summer. I've learned lots of important blogging things this week like scheduled posts. They are so awesome. So hopefully I'll have more than two posts a week from now on. Back to the real purpose of this post, the Friday blog hops!

Q. How did you come up with your blog name?

I actually wrote all about this in my "About Me" page. I chose the name Tantalizing Illusions because even though I'm a huge bookworm, and I didn't want to have a blog with the word book in it. I have no idea why, but I was scared that somebody would have the same/similar blog name so I wanted something completely original. Tantalizing has always been one of my favourite words. Plus it's fun to say. Illusions has a small alliteration with tantalizing and together (at least in my head) tantalizing +illusions= books because they are stories that may appear real but aren't and they are super tempting to read. Let me know in the comments if that makes any sense whatsoever.

"Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?"


I read usually one at a time. It helps me stay focused on that book and I finish the book much faster. I have a terrible memory so juggling between many books would confuse me. The only time I'd read more than one book is when I need to read a book for school.

 "Who's your all-time favorite book villain?"

Amazing (but really hard) question! I would say Damon Salvatore, but he's not entirely a villain. He's actually a lot like a hero. So I shall probably say Lord Voldemort. He's terrifying, evil, has a sad background but doesn't make me feel bad for him. I'm always curious about villains. So much that I end up pitying them, but I never pitied Voldemort. He's a memorable, historic villain and someone I can call without hesitation "evil".

Share your current fav television show! Tell us a bit about it...

First of all, I LOVE this question! I love tv and I love to talk about it. Since this may be my one and only chance to rant about my fave tv shows, I thought I'd introduce you to all 3 of them. 

#1. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES! Seriously, my love of this show is a force to be reckoned with. TVD has action, drama, suspense, friendship, violence, mystery, HOT GUYS (Team Damon), real characters, and basically everything I love. Every episode is OMG worthy and I love it. Too bad the next episode won't be till April. 

#2. SUPERNATURAL. Gosh, I love this show. It has so much action, suspense, and amazing characters and plots. This show addicts and thrills me, plus it's actually really scary. Anyone interested in books about demons, hunters, etc. (the books where monsters are monsters, not people to be worshipped) should check this out.

#3. Last there is my guilty pleasure, GOSSIP GIRL. I love the characters and the clothes. There's so much drama, it's fun. It's  not a show for everyone, but it is a show I watch every Monday.

 "Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"

Hmmm... really hard question. Sometimes I wish I chose a name more book related. Tantalizing Illusions took forever to make up, but it's a name that could be for a design blog or something, not a blog about books. But since the name is unique, it's easy to remember. I wanted an original name so I think the name works. What do you think?
