Cover Wars: Oppression vs Want

Cover Wars is when I post two covers, and you basically get a week to vote for your favourite. The winner continues on to next week, and it's kind of cool seeing which covers work and which don't. In the comments section we can discuss what we like about what cover, and it's basically some fun competition.

Last week's winner was Oppression by a very wide margin, so congratulations to Jessica Therrien! Oppression now gets to face off against another stunning cover, Want by Stephanie Lawton. The covers both have one central colour (green vs. red) and I think they're both beautiful. It's not up to me though- it's up to you guys to pick and vote for your favourite covers on the right! So let the Cover Wars... begin!!!

Oppression (Children of the Gods, #1)vsWant

  4. WANT ... it's so compelling, and different from any other cover out there.

  5. You know, I like Opression. Despite LOVING redheads on covers, LOVING the photo, the warmth, the everything, I really don't love the typeface >___<

    They are both GORGEOUS, though!

  8. I love the simplicity and typeface of Oppression, but the color choices of Want make that the winner for me.

  9. I like them both, but would select WANT over OPPRESSION if faced with a choice at the bookstore. My reasoning, there is a lot more to the Want cover, more to draw the eye and generate interest in the story within. The other just gives me a face and nothing to tease me into a state of curiosity.

  10. Both covers are really nice, but I would definitely have to choose Want.

Now, I've not read Oppression yet, so I don't know what the story is about. I have read Want though, and the cover for it goes perfectly with the story!

Plus, I'm a bit picky about cover art. I don't normally like when the title of a book, the author's name and the tagline(if there is one)is all done in the same font, same color, same style like with Oppression.

I am a totally go-by-the-cover person and Want has a better first impression IMO. So WANT according to me.

  12. WANT! The cover is so gorgeous... almost too naughty for the YA section, but not quite. Love it!
