About Me & Info

Hey, thanks for visiting my blog! If you're here, you're probably looking for information either about me or my blog. So, here it is!

I'm P.E., I'm from Ottawa, Canada and I'm a teen who loves to read. My all time favourite books always seem to have paranormal aspects to them, though I've always enjoyed some contemporary here and there. I'm currently in my third year of high school and I've been blogging since January of 2009.

When I'm not reading, I'm a huge fan of TV. Some of my favourite shows are The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Veronica Mars, and Heroes (season 1). Obviously I watch a lot of the CW. I listen to a bit of everything when it comes to music. I mostly listen to mainstream stuff but only because music isn't a big thing to me. I just want something I can dance to.

While I don't consider myself to be very athletic, I play touch-football for my school team, and I'm a huge fan of hockey (Go Sens Go!). I'm also very into biking, and in general I like team sports since I'm a competitive person.

I don't have a job at the moment so to fund giveaways and blog stuff, I'm affiliated with Amazon and The Book Depository. I'll have a section in my review which says "Buy the Book" and in there I'll leave a link for easy access to buying the book if you're interested.

You can always contact me at tantalizingillusions@gmail.com or follow me on twitter (AshesTatalize). I'm also very active on Goodreads so you can friend me to check out what I'm reading.

Blog Info

So why is my book blog called "Tantalizing Illusions?" Well, I first wanted to have an original way of saying books. Books are like illusions. They may seem real, but they're not. They're also very inviting and tempting. That's why they're tantalizing. I also chose those two words because they're fun to say together. In retrospect it may have not been the best choice, but I think it's the best choice for my blog.

I post reviews about YA books. I don't read adult, and I rarely read MG unless it's an older character (like Percy Jackson). I try to post frequently with a decent amount of reviews, discussion posts, and I try mostly to have original memes (like Cover Wars).

Rating Star System

My rating system has changed over the years I've been blogging. It's a bit more accurate now, and I'll post ratings of all books, one star to five stars. I also feel with my new rating system, I'm being more honest. Here's how it works.

Every book I read will be rated 1 to 5 in 5 categories. Mythology/Premise , Characters, Plot, Interest, World. I will then find the average rating. If it's .25 at the end, I'll either round up or down based on what I feel the book deserves more. (Usually I round up.)

Now here's some information on my ratings system.

1 star * I did not like this book. It's not okay- I have more negative feelings than neutral or mixed feelings.
2 stars ** It was okay. I didn't like it, but I didn't definitely not like it. Meh.
3 stars *** I liked this book. It was good.
4 stars **** I really liked/loved  this book. It was so great.
5 stars ***** I absolutely adored this book in every way. One of the best books of  the year, this book will be on my all time favourites list.

As you can see, the average rating is 2 stars. 3 stars isn't a low rating on this website. 5 stars are very rare. I do use .5 stars too.

Followers

I'm pleasantly surprised when people follow me because that means they like what I post or value my opinion or something. I'm sorry to say I do not always follow back. However I will visit my followers if I'm able to find a link to do so. I need to say though that since I read YA, I follow only YA blogs, though I honestly do appreciate any blogger's visit.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading this! If you have any comments, questions, concerns, whatever, please feel free to contact me at tantalizingillusions@gmail.com or on twitter (AshesTantalize).

xoxo,

P.E.
